The Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater is seeking a qualified Box Office Coordinator to join our team. The Box Office Coordinator assists the Director of Ticketing with the daily operations of the box office. The role requires a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional who can manage staff, maintain the ticketing systems, and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure efficient and accurate ticketing services.

This position requires open availability including working nights, weekends and select holidays for performances and events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises the Box Office staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Provides frontline support and ongoing training to box office ticket selling staff during daytime hours and event nights, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Responsible for cash handling and box office controls.
- Manages will call, comp ticket requests, and special ticketing needs from promoters and/or the venue.
- Oversees group sales inquiries and fulfillment.
- Accurately dispenses tickets as requested by patrons; accepts payment and makes changes accurately.
- Assists in building and maintaining events in TM1 and Archtics.
- Utilizes TM1, Archtics, and Host for ticketing and reporting functions to ensure the proper use of the ticketing system.
- Manages customer service issues regarding tickets during all events.
- Provides outstanding customer service by responding to incoming phone calls and emails promptly and professionally.
- Maintains accurate counts and records of cash received when selling hard tickets or accesses computer for counts of computer printed tickets.
- Opens and/or closes Box Office ticket window as needed.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ticketing System Experience: Proficiency with TM1, Archtics, and Host, with the ability to build events and manage holds.
- Customer Service Excellence: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to provide friendly, professional support to guests, staff, and touring personnel.
- Leadership & Team Management: Experience supervising staff, creating schedules, and providing guidance in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate handling of cash, ticket orders, comps, group sales, and reporting tasks.
- Organization & Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and stay organized during high-volume events.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Able to troubleshoot ticketing issues, answer staff questions, and resolve guest concerns quickly and effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using ticketing software, email platforms, and basic office applications.
- Availability and Flexibility: Capable and willing to work flexible hours including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and event-based schedules which may include holidays.
- Professionalism: Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a calm, courteous demeanor under pressure.
