Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role located in Dallas, TX for an HQ Animal Care Technician - with room to grow into full-time. This position is scheduled Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The Animal Care Technician is responsible for the daily hands-on care, safety, cleanliness, and enrichment of dogs residing at The Love Pit HQ facility. This role is essential to maintaining the physical health, emotional wellbeing, and behavioral progress of both full-time and temporary residents.
Responsibilities include daily dog care (feeding, watering, grooming, monitoring health and behavior), providing structured exercise and enrichment, supporting behavioral plans, maintaining a clean and sanitary facility, fulfilling foster supply requests, and communicating clearly with HQ leadership, staff, volunteers, and foster coordinators. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, physical stamina, strong dog-handling skills, and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
Qualifications
- Availability to work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Experience in animal care, pet care, kennel work, or similar hands-on roles
- Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes, energy levels, and temperaments
- Ability to follow behavioral plans and care instructions exactly as written
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
- Compassionate, calm demeanor and commitment to animal welfare
- High school diploma or equivalent required; shelter, rescue, or veterinary experience is a plus
