Position: Landscape Architect/Project Manager
Organization: Circuit Trail Conservancy, DBA The Loop Dallas
Must be a state licensed Landscape Architect to be eligible for this position.
About The Loop Dallas: The Loop Dallas is a transformative urban trail project that unites 39 miles of existing trails with 11 miles of newly constructed pathways, creating a continuous 50-mile loop around the city's core. This initiative aims to revitalize communities, provide safe and reliable pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and make walkable green spaces an integral part of Dallas's identity.
Job Summary: The Loop Dallas seeks a dynamic and experienced Landscape Architect to join our team to oversee the design, engineering and stakeholder approvals for the final two miles of trail needed for the 50-mile circuit. This position will also lead design standards for new trail projects, trailheads, and other green spaces related to the 50-mile network.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management of the Final Two Miles: The final two miles of trail needed to complete The Loop Dallas are at 30% design under two consultant teams
- Oversee management of these two teams, provide design review, ensure milestones are met and that the budget for each project is maintained
- Serve as project liaison with the City of Dallas per the public private agreement The Loop Dallas operates
- Assist with securing agreements with stakeholders to secure right of way needed to deliver projects
Lead Wayfinding Program: The Loop Dallas will be conducting a national competitive process to select a firm to develop a wayfinding program for the Dallas trail system
- Lead selected consultant to develop a wayfinding program to use trails and transit for active transportation
- Work with relevant public entities and stakeholders to ensure success and use of the system, including “Friends of” groups for Dallas trails
- Create a sustainable implementation plan to activate the 50-mile system and beyond
Institutionalize Design Standards: The Loop Dallas has already designed and constructed five projects, each with different design consultants. The Landscape Architect will institutionalize best practices from these projects so they can be carried forward on future projects.
- Implement these best practices to improve projects that connect to and enhance The Loop Dallas and the Dallas trail system
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience
- Strong understanding of sustainable design principles and local plant ecology.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Significant professional experience in landscape architecture, with a focus on urban and community-based projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and GIS applications.
- Demonstrated personal effectiveness, credibility, and collaboration skills
- Adaptability and a positive approach to challenges
- High ethical standards, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
