Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Transportation Aide to safely transport residents to and from scheduled appointments, including physician offices, laboratories, hospitals, dental appointments, and other approved locations. This role plays a vital part in ensuring residents receive timely and coordinated care outside the facility.
Essential Functions
Review scheduled appointments with the transportation scheduler daily
Ensure residents are prepared for appointments, including personal hygiene and weather-appropriate clothing
Obtain required paperwork and documentation from the resident’s nurse prior to departure
Accompany residents to appointments and remain with them when family members are not present
Transport residents safely and responsibly to and from approved locations
Receive, understand, and accurately relay verbal instructions and information from healthcare providers to nursing staff
Promote the safety, comfort, and well-being of all residents during transport
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Valid Illinois driver’s license required
CNA certification preferred, but not required
Ability to read and follow written directions
Ability to communicate effectively in English with residents, families, and coworkers
Demonstrated ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, staff, visitors, and external agencies
Ability to receive, understand, and communicate detailed resident-related instructions from healthcare providers
