Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Human Resources to lead all HR functions for our skilled nursing and rehabilitation community in Topeka, Kansas. As a strategic HR leader, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing human resources programs, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, retention initiatives, staff development, and workforce planning.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Direct all HR operations and personnel administration activities

• Advise management on employment practices, employee relations, equal employment opportunity, harassment prevention, and workplace policies

• Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements

• Partner with department leaders on staffing needs, performance management, retention efforts, and workforce planning

• Analyze turnover trends and recommend strategies to improve employee retention and engagement

• Lead recruitment efforts, candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring processes

• Coordinate background checks, reference checks, licensure verification, and pre-employment screenings

• Manage new hire orientation and onboarding programs

• Maintain applicant tracking and personnel records

• Administer employee relations programs and assist with conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws

• Oversee unemployment claims, workers' compensation cases, OSHA reporting, and employment verifications

• Monitor professional licensure and certification renewals for applicable staff

• Process and manage payroll operations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required

• Master's degree preferred

• Minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources leadership or administration experience

• Experience in healthcare, long-term care, skilled nursing, or senior living preferred

• Strong knowledge of employment law, wage and hour regulations, OSHA requirements, workers' compensation, employee relations, and compliance

Qualities:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion

• Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll systems, Microsoft Office, and general business software

• Ability to work collaboratively with employees, leadership teams, and regulatory agencies
