Position Overview
The Halifax County Clinic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care on a locum tenens basis. This role is ideal for a flexible provider who thrives in a public health setting and is committed to serving diverse and underserved populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
- Conduct physical exams and obtain medical histories
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations
- Manage acute and chronic conditions across a broad patient population
- Deliver preventive care, including immunizations, screenings, and health education
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and public health staff to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of North Carolina
- Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current DEA license and prescriptive authority
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS preferred)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred (public health or primary care experience a plus)
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
