Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities within an Oilfield Services environment. This role requires a strong understanding of operational accounting, cost tracking, and GAAP compliance, while partnering closely with operations and leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Lead and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition in accordance with GAAP
- Analyze operational and project-related costs; support margin analysis
- Review balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Assist with software systems implementation and maturation – (e.g. Ramp)
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
- Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and leadership teams to provide financial insights
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience in Oilfield Services or energy-related industries (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, operational environment
Preferred Skills & Experience
- CPA or CPA-eligible preferred (not required)
- Experience with cost accounting, inventory, or project-based accounting
- Exposure to multi-entity or multi-location accounting environments
- A curious mentality to proactively understand issues and ask questions
