- Field Service Support: Perform on-site installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of power systems, electrical equipment, and industrial controls.
- Inspect, repair, and replace electrical components, including transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, protective relay systems, and PLC Controls.
- Support commissioning and system startups, ensuring systems are operational and meet specifications. Conduct thorough system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Customer Interaction & Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during service visits, addressing technical issues and providing solutions.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships.
- Train customers on the operation and maintenance of their equipment to help them better manage and troubleshoot systems.
- Accurately document service activities, including generating test reports and providing detailed feedback on system performance.
- Operational Efficiency: Work closely with other technicians and internal teams to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of service work, time tracking, and inventory management on-site.
- Use available technologies to troubleshoot and resolve issues remotely when possible, helping to reduce service costs and downtime.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards.
- Promote safety practices while on-site, conducting safety audits and participating in safety training sessions.
- Maintain up-to-date safety certifications and participate in ongoing safety and technical training.
- Ongoing Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, equipment, and technologies to improve your service capabilities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for field service activities.
- Provide feedback to management on customer needs, technical challenges, and service improvements.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field preferred.
- Certifications such as NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or other relevant technical certifications are a plus.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience as a field service technician, with a focus on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
- Experience in servicing and maintaining complex electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with testing and troubleshooting PLCs, SCADA systems, circuit breakers, transformers, LV/MV switchgear, and protective relay systems.
- Additional experience with protective relay testing and performing preventive maintenance on electrical power systems is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
Proficient with field service management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to customers.
Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and handle service priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Other Requirements
Willingness and ability to travel frequently, with overnight stays to visit customer sites at customer locations across the country.
A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Familiar with industry-standard test equipment (e.g., multimeters, breaker test sets, relay test sets, electrical testing equipment).
Able to read and mark up electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Extra Competencies:
Experience with electrical systems at both low and medium voltage levels.
Exposure to system integration, programming, and configuration of PLCs, CAD, EPMS, and SCADA systems is a plus.
Ability to generate clear, detailed test reports and document service work.
