Role Description This is a part-time position seeking to fill shifts on Friday, Saturday, and eventually possibly Sundays, the roles based at The Lighthouse Restaurant and Lounge in Colchester, VT. The individual is responsible for greeting guests, presenting menus, explaining daily specials, and taking accurate food and beverage orders. We utilize a Clover POS station to process order this role also includes serving food and drinks, monitoring guest satisfaction, refilling beverages, and managing requests promptly and professionally. Persons will handle payments, process checks, and maintain a clean, organized dining area and service stations. Additional responsibilities include supporting teammates during peak times, following health and safety standards, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a server, food runner, or in a guest-facing hospitality role is preferred, but motivated candidates with a strong customer service mindset are encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize orders, and maintain attention to detail while managing multiple tables and time-sensitive tasks.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills, with the ability to accurately process payments, handle tips, and use POS systems.
- Capacity to stand, walk, carry trays, and lift items as needed throughout the shift, following safe working practices.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a team-oriented approach, including flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices; experience with steak, seafood, and salad bar service is a plus.
- Minimum age to serve alcohol as required by local regulations; responsible alcohol service training or certification is an advantage.
