POSITION TITLE: Parent Education Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Missoula County Public Schools' Adult Education Director and Supervisor, this position is responsible for researching, planning, and organizing classes and facilitating Parent Education in the Missoula County Public Schools Elementary District
INSTRUCTIONAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a Liaison between the Parent and Family Education organizations, community members, parent education instructors, and the MCPS Adult Education Division.
- Assesses the need locally for Parent Education class offerings and makes recommendations to the Adult Education Supervisor and director.
- Becomes an approved instructor for the Early Childhood Project Childcare Provider Registry. Get classes approved and certificates issued for classes to be approved childcare training.
- Works with MCPS Family Resource Centers to identify parent education needs, identifies appropriate facilities for classes, and works with staff to ensure the space is used in a cooperative manner by all.
- Ensures assigned rooms are available during the times and dates requested. Assists in problem-solving, scheduling conflicts, and adjusting for canceled and/or rescheduled classes.
- Deliver instructor packets, conduct class observations, and distribute direction signage at the first session of classes offered off-site as needed.
- Recruit instructors for Parent and Adult Education classes.
- Assists potential instructors in completing class proposal forms.
- Serves as a resource to Parent and Adult education instructors, offering classes, including orienting, monitoring, evaluating, and providing guidance.
- Markets class offerings to the schools and community centers through the use of school newsletters, mailings, social media, and other appropriate marketing means.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. PREFERRED - Experience in planning and marketing education programs
2. PREFERRED - Experience: instructing adults
3. PREFERRED - Familiarity with Childcare training requirements and approval
4. REQUIRED - Demonstrated ability to perform excellent customer service
5. REQUIRED - Familiarity with the Parent and Family Education community
6. REQUIRED - Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
7. REQUIRED - Proven ability to uphold District and program policies and a high standard of confidentiality.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Program Coordination is paid at the rate of $28 per hour a maximum of 160 hours per fiscal year. Hours are varied and will include an occasional evening and/or Saturday.
