Position Summary

The Material Handler / Inventory Specialist supports the receiving, storage, tracking, movement, and distribution of materials, tools, and equipment for Program Services projects. This position combines hands-on material-handling responsibilities with detailed inventory control and administrative documentation.

The Material Handler / Inventory Specialist will safely operate forklifts, telehandlers, pallet jacks, skid steers, and other authorized material-handling equipment while maintaining accurate inventory records, receiving documentation, material tickets, transfer forms, and related paperwork. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in both field and administrative environments.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling and Equipment Operation

• Safely operate forklifts, telehandlers, pallet jacks, skid steers, and other authorized material-handling equipment.
• Load, unload, transport, stage, and store materials, tools, supplies, and equipment.
• Receive incoming deliveries and verify materials against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and delivery tickets.
• Inspect incoming materials for quantity, quality, damage, and accuracy.
• Properly secure, stack, label, and store materials in designated locations.
• Prepare, stage, and distribute materials according to project schedules and field-team requests.
• Assist with coordinating material deliveries, pickups, transfers, and returns.
• Maintain organized and safe warehouse, laydown-yard, and material-storage areas.
• Perform routine pre-use inspections of assigned machinery and immediately report equipment defects or safety concerns.
• Follow manufacturer requirements, site rules, and established lifting and load-capacity procedures.

Inventory Control and Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment received, issued, transferred, returned, or disposed of.
• Enter inventory transactions into applicable inventory-management systems, spreadsheets, or project databases.
• Complete receiving reports, material issue tickets, transfer forms, delivery logs, and other required documentation.
• Track inventory levels and notify management of shortages, discrepancies, damaged materials, or upcoming material needs.
• Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
• Research and reconcile discrepancies between physical inventory and electronic or written records.
• Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy files for purchase orders, bills of lading, packing slips, delivery tickets, and inventory reports.
• Track serial numbers, equipment identification numbers, and other required asset information.
• Coordinate with project management, procurement, vendors, warehouse personnel, and field teams to support material availability.
• Assist with preparing routine inventory, receiving, and material-usage reports.

Safety and Site Support

• Follow all LEMOINE, client, project, and OSHA safety requirements.
• Wear required personal protective equipment and participate in safety meetings, training, and job hazard analyses.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians, vehicles, overhead hazards, underground utilities, and changing site conditions.
• Immediately report damaged materials, unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment malfunctions.
• Support general warehouse, logistics, and project-site activities as assigned.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and professional work environment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in material handling, inventory control, warehousing, logistics, construction, manufacturing, or a related environment.
• Experience operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment.
• Ability to accurately complete inventory paperwork and maintain organized records.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with email, data entry, and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, delivery tickets, and material lists.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inventory discrepancies.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass applicable pre-employment and project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of material-handling, warehouse, logistics, or inventory-control experience.
• Previous experience supporting construction, industrial, data center, mission-critical, or large-scale projects.
• Current forklift or telehandler operator certification.
• Experience with inventory-management, warehouse-management, procurement, or enterprise resource planning software.
• Experience performing cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Familiarity with material tracking using barcodes, scanners, asset tags, or electronic inventory systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
• Ability to safely enter, exit, and operate material-handling equipment.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• Ability to work around dust, noise, moving equipment, uneven terrain, and active construction operations.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Schedule

• Must be available to work the schedule required by the project, which may include early mornings, extended hours, weekends, holidays, or overtime.
• Travel or temporary assignment to project locations may be required.
