The Legal Clinic (TLC)’s mission is to ensure justice for low-income immigrants and migrants in Hawaiʻi through high-quality immigration legal services, education, and advocacy. TLC is a Honolulu-based independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The operations director plays a central role in supporting the staff (14-17 in 2026) and day-to-day functions of TLC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Office Management & Administration
- Oversee general office functions and systems, develop operating protocols including remote/telework logistics
- Plan and coordinate staff meetings, events, trainings, and retreats
- Supervise administrative support staff/volunteers and assist with daily administrative functions as needed
- Serve as tech support point person, coordinating with third-party IT vendors
- Manage cloud-based platforms in a Microsoft 365 environment
Contracts, Compliance & Record-Keeping
- Manage vendor agreements and relationships, and supervise bookkeeping support staff if/when needed
- Assist the directors in ensuring that the organization is in compliance with labor laws, HR policies, record-keeping policies, government reporting requirements, and other best practices
- Work with staff to develop and implement quality measurement/evaluation of services
Human Resources & Staff Support
- Coordinate staff and volunteer recruitment, job postings, hiring, and onboarding/offboarding processes
- Maintain employee records and HR compliance tracking (e.g., required trainings, clearances)
- Implement new HR policies and procedures as we develop them and update the employee handbook
- Assist supervisors in regularly tracking and evaluating staff performance and annual work goals
- Support staff well-being through team-building events, benefit plans, and wellness opportunities
- Plan and help implement staff and volunteer training, and promote professional development opportunities
- Partner with directors to develop annual work plans and longer term strategy
Hours: Full-time (100% FTE); M-F business hours with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities
Location: downtown Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, with some work-from-home flexibility. A minimum of 3 half-days in office are required)

Experience:
