What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ranch Support Staff position at The Legacy Ranch?
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and hard working person to join our team! As part of our ranch support staff, you will help provide care for our 16 horses. We need someone to assist with our daily horse care operations including turn out, turn in, cleaning stalls, feeding/watering, and other general animal care duties. A primary part of the job is to help train and maintain good working relationships with our strong team of volunteers. We also expect some property maintenance responsibilities. We are a therapeutic riding center that offers a variety of different programs to help connect people with horses through traditional lessons, therapies, and events.
Responsibilities:
- Daily wellness checks and general health checks on horses
- Daily horse care including turning horses out into their assigned herd groups, turning in horses to their stalls, feeding grain/hay, prepping grain/supplements, grooming/picking hooves, etc.
- Assist with general property maintenance as assigned including cobwebbing, dusting, weed whipping, cutting grass, hay delivery, repairing fences, etc.
- Train barn duty volunteers, delegate tasks to volunteers, and oversee their work
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings
- Help maintain horse equipment and tack including fly masks, fly boots, sheets, blankets, and other general tack
- Assist with horse handling as needed for lessons, therapies, events, and programs etc.
- Communicate with Barn & Property Manager when things need to be ordered-grain, shavings, meds/supplements, etc.
- Promote a safe and positive work environment for everyone at the ranch
Requirement:
- Previous experience working with horses is preferred
- Knowledge of horse health is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks as needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays
More details:
Pay-$15/hr
Part time-~15-18 hrs a week, hours can vary but will include weekend hours
