What you will do as a Medication Associate
- Prepare, assist/administer and document medications as prescribed
- Count and sign medication administration record for controlled drugs
- Take and record vital signs
- Care for your assigned residents and assist with activities of daily living including transferring to prevent falls.
- Encourage residents to engage in scheduled activities, entertainment, exercise and dining
- Provide companionship through conversation and quality time
- Responding to call lights to address falls and other potential emergencies
- Monitor and promptly communicate changes in resident condition to relevant care team
What do you need to be a Medication Associate at our Community?
Resident pace can be slow, patience is required
The ability to effectively respond to varying moods of residents requires compassion and flexibility
Being a good companion requires listening and empathy
Caregivers stick to the rules and are relied upon to be honest and responsible
Good communication with Nurse, Caregivers, Dining staff, Activities team and families relative to on-going care and needs of residents
Ability to maintain professionalism in appearance and demeanor
Hold a current permit from the Texas Department of Health as a Certified Medication Aide, preferred but not required.
