The Leasing Lawyers is a boutique law firm focused on commercial leasing. We represent commercial tenants and landlords in lease reviews, redlines, negotiations, amendments, renewals, assignments, terminations, and related matters.
We provide clients with practical, business-minded legal guidance—not just summaries of what their documents say.
The OpportunityWe are seeking an Arizona-licensed attorney to support our commercial leasing practice on a remote, part-time, independent-contractor basis.
This is an assignment-based role. We will offer matters based on your experience, availability, and potential conflicts. You may accept or decline individual assignments, and there is no guaranteed minimum amount of work.
The position is primarily transactional and does not require business development or an existing book of business.
ResponsibilitiesDepending on the matter, assignments may include:
- Reviewing commercial leases and related documents
- Identifying legal, financial, operational, and business risks
- Preparing client-facing lease review reports
- Drafting and revising commercial leases, amendments, renewals, assignments, guaranties, and termination agreements
- Preparing and responding to lease redlines
- Supporting lease negotiations with opposing counsel, landlords, tenants, brokers, and other parties
- Researching Arizona commercial leasing and real estate issues
- Assisting with default, enforcement, termination, and pre-litigation matters
- Communicating directly with clients when appropriate
- Completing assignments accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Maintaining organized matter files, time records, and status updates
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona
- At least three years of legal experience following admission to the bar
- Substantive experience reviewing, drafting, or negotiating commercial leases
- Strong legal research, analysis, drafting, and issue-spotting skills
- Ability to translate legal provisions into practical business advice
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines
- Ability to promptly complete conflict checks and protect confidential client information
- Reasonable availability for communications during Arizona business hours
- Experience representing both commercial tenants and landlords
- Experience with retail, office, industrial, restaurant, medical, or mixed-use leases
- Experience with lease defaults, terminations, assignments, amendments, and guaranties
- Prior law firm, in-house real estate, or outside general counsel experience
- Additional active bar licenses, particularly California or Illinois
- Familiarity with secure cloud-based document and matter-management systems
This is a remote, part-time independent-contractor opportunity. Compensation will be established by assignment and will generally be based on the scope and fees associated with the matter.
We anticipate approximately $2,000 to $4,000 per month, depending on client demand, the number and complexity of assignments accepted, and work completed. This estimate is not a guarantee of minimum hours, assignments, or compensation.
The attorney will be responsible for applicable taxes, insurance, equipment, licensing obligations, and other expenses associated with independent practice.
Why This Role May Be a Good FitThis opportunity may be particularly well suited for an experienced attorney who:
- Operates an independent or solo practice
- Performs contract work for other law firms
- Wants to supplement an existing practice
- Prefers substantive legal work without responsibility for generating clients
- Values flexibility and the ability to accept assignments based on availability
