After-school Program Coordinator & Instructor

The Learning Tree Development Child Care Center
Jasper, TX Part Time
POSTED ON 7/6/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/30/2026

Job Summary

Are you energetic, dedicated, and passionate about youth development? We are seeking a dynamic Afterschool Program Coordinator & Instructor to lead engaging, safe, and enriching activities for children in our community.

In this dual role, you will be the driving force behind our afterschool program, splitting your time between administrative leadership (planning, coordinating, and communicating with parents) and hands-on instruction (leading activities, managing classrooms, and mentoring students). You will serve as both a leader and a mentor, fostering a positive, structured environment where children feel supported, included, and motivated to explore new interests. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact on young lives while developing your skills in education, childcare, and youth engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Leadership:

  • Curriculum & Activity Planning: Plan, coordinate, and implement diverse afterschool activities—including tutoring, sports coaching, arts and crafts, and theater projects—that align with educational standards and developmental needs.
  • Daily Operations: Ensure the program runs smoothly, safely, and in alignment with all operational policies and state licensing standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a primary point of contact; collaborate openly with parents, teachers, and community partners to support each child’s individual needs and progress.
  • Documentation & Records: Keep detailed, organized records of daily attendance, behavior logs, incident reports, and participant progress reports.

Instruction & Classroom Management:

  • Direct Instruction & Mentorship: Lead daily recreational and educational sessions to foster creativity, teamwork, and social-emotional learning. Act as a positive role model.
  • Behavior Management: Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment using proactive behavior management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Student Safety & Health: Supervise children closely during all program hours, transitions, and outdoor play. Adhere strictly to health guidelines, first aid protocols, and CPR/AED emergency procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Proven experience in youth programs, teaching, tutoring, childcare, or camp leadership. Experience working with children of various ages, including those with special education needs or behavioral challenges, is highly valued.
  • Classroom Management: Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain order and engagement in a lively, high-energy environment.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a background or college coursework in early childhood education, child development, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Certifications: Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED operation (or willingness to obtain them immediately upon hire). Must pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting.
  • Communication & Organization: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with families and staff, paired with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Paid professional development and ongoing training
  • Opportunities for career growth within the organization
  • A fun, rewarding, and supportive team culture
