This position requires flexibility and a team-oriented mindset, as the cook may also support with opening the center and providing teacher breaks when needed.
ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Prepare and serve two snacks and one lunch daily, following nutritional guidelines and allergy-safe practices.
- Deliver meals to classrooms in a timely and hygienic manner.
- Wash dishes, sanitize kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen and pantry area.
- Take out pantry/kitchen trash and uphold cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Assist in opening the center (potentially as early as 6:30 a.m.) and support classroom staff with scheduled breaks when needed.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations including food handling and sanitation protocols.
- Communicate with the director and teachers to ensure meal timing and classroom needs are met.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Experience in food preparation, kitchen maintenance, or childcare setting preferred
- Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Positive, team-player attitude with strong time management and multitasking abilities
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Must be available to work between 6:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with hours subject to adjustment based on center needs.
