What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2026-2027 Teacher - Special Education Mild to Moderate Student Needs TK- 12 position at The Learning Choice Academy, Chula Vista, La Mesa, San Diego?
I. IDENTIFICATION:
1) Referrals for special educational services will go to the resource specialist. The Specialist may process the referrals in any or all of the following ways:
a. Confer with the referring teacher
b. Notify parents in writing and discuss with them the intended assessment before any testing is done. Obtain written consent from the parent prior to any assessment.
c. Observe, test, or otherwise evaluate the child.
d. Obtain reports of any previous testing and/or special help
e. Ask a designated services person, the nurse, or psychologist to help evaluate the child. Persons conducting the assessment shall maintain a complete written record of diagnostic procedures employed and their results. They shall also record the conclusions reached, the suggested treatment, its anticipated duration, and the specific objectives outlined for the pupil.
2) Coordinate the writing of the instructional plan.
II. INSTRUCTIONS:
1) The resource specialist may work with identified special education children on a one-to-one basis
III. COORDINATION AND CONSULTATION:
1) The resource specialist will coordinate the program of pupils enrolled in designated instruction and services.
2) The resource specialist may interpret educational and psychological findings to the school staff and/or parents of special education pupils.
3) In-service training for teachers or parents may be provided by the resource specialist.
4) Special materials, resource information or consultant services may be provided by the resource specialist to either staff or parents.
IV. EVALUATION:
1) The resource specialist monitors the progress of each certified special education pupil in relationship to the child’s instructional plan.
2) The resource specialist will collect information and reports in preparation for the bi-annual review and prepare a written report of the review.
3) The resource specialist coordinates the rewriting of the pupil’s instructional plan when any change is agreed upon and approved by the parent.
4) The resource specialist will obtain the signatures of the parent whenever any change is made in the child’s instructional plan.
