2026-2027 6th grade Humanities Teacher- Chula Vista

Duties: Candidate must possess exceptional skills and knowledge and experience in Humanities and/or English and Social Science with expertise in the teaching of English language and writing, and Western and world literature. In addition, the candidate will have interest and experience in a variety of modes of teaching and be highly skilled at differentiated instruction. Must be knowledgeabl in Social Science and English content standards for California public schools. Be responsible for creating an effective learning environment that develops in each student the knowledge and skills needed to be prepared for Humanities in college, career, and life. Be a positive role model and instructor with the ability to evolve the Humanities program. Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials that stimulates inquiry, self-expression, and individual growth. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students and accommodate circumstances where a variety of projects and lessons are being worked on simultaneously. Prepares progress reports, report cards and evaluates academic and social growth of students. Establishes and maintains standards and expectations of student behavior for a productive learning environment. Promotes a learning environment that is conducive to the growth of student responsibility and self-control. Communicates with parents and staff on progress, growth, areas of improvement. Identifies pupil needs and consults with other professional staff. Practices professional competence by attending staff development programs, subject team meetings and other professional learning opportunities. The Independent Study teacher AKA Educational Partner (EP) responsibility requires face-to-face contact with students and parents at least once every 30 school attendance days up to one hour per student each time. Meetings are held at the TLC Resource Center.  The Educational Partner position requires overseeing a roster of students at various grade levels, collecting work samples across all subjects, and completing student portfolios every six weeks, meeting with parent and student every six weeks to discuss progress, completing semester report cards, and other duties as assigned

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
 Completing required paperwork and documentation ie: Master Agreement, Attendance Logs, Assignment and Work Records, Report Cards, and Digital Student Learning Portfolios
 Advising and counseling both parents and students about educational opportunities
 Communicating school information to the parents/students
 Evaluating student progress
 Keeping current with school policy and procedure
 Using computer technology
 Attending staff meetings 
 Travel to other school sites
 Attendance at School Field Trips/Field Days/Assemblies
 Proctoring state mandated tests and administering any other required tests Knowledge of: California Multi-Tier System of Support Social Emotional Learning supports Understanding of appropriate behavior management techniques Fluency in English and academic level vocabulary and syntax expertise Basic First Aid   Ability to: Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and school staff Communicate constructively and positively Be dependable and punctual Demonstrate an understanding, patient, friendly, and receptive attitude toward students Remain calm under stressful conditions Understand and follow oral and written instructions Demonstrate proficiency in English, both orally and in writing; print and write legibly Deal with problems using good judgment   Required documents to upload: A letter of introduction Resume Three current (3-6 months) letters of reference Fingerprint and TB clearances will be required before employment, as well as a physical exam Copy of California teaching credential Copy of transcripts
