Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Trauma-Informed Education Professional Development Trainer to lead workshops and professional learning sessions for teachers and school staff. The trainer will provide educators with strategies to understand and respond to the impact of trauma on student behavior, learning, and emotional regulation.
The ideal candidate has experience working in schools and is passionate about helping educators create safe, supportive, and responsive classrooms.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate professional development workshops on trauma-informed teaching practices
- Train educators to recognize the effects of trauma on student behavior and learning
- Provide practical classroom strategies for supporting students experiencing trauma
- Guide teachers in implementing social-emotional learning (SEL) and supportive classroom practices
- Develop and deliver engaging presentations, training materials, and implementation guides
- Provide educators with tools for de-escalation, relationship-building, and emotional regulation strategies
- Support schools in creating trauma-informed classroom environments
- Stay current on research and best practices in trauma-informed education
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in schools or educational settings
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and student support strategies
- Experience facilitating professional development for educators
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
- Ability to translate research into practical classroom strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in school counseling, school psychology, social work, or behavioral support
- Experience working with students impacted by trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or behavioral challenges
- Experience in teacher coaching, SEL programming, or school-wide support initiatives
