Key Responsibilities
Aquatic Safety & Supervision
- Maintain constant surveillance of participants in and around the pool area.
- Enforce all pool rules and safety procedures consistently and respectfully.
- Respond immediately to emergencies, providing rescue, first aid, or CPR as required.
- Perform regular pool deck and water checks, ensuring a safe and accessible environment for participants with diverse needs.
- Provide friendly, professional, and mission-centered interactions with members, participants, staff, and families.
- Assist individuals with disabilities in accessing the pool safely, using adaptive equipment as needed.
- Communicate effectively with program staff regarding participant needs, behaviors, and safety concerns.
- Complete opening, closing, and daily pool maintenance tasks, including water tests and safety equipment checks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck, locker rooms, and related areas.
- Report any hazards, incidents, or maintenance needs promptly to the Wellness Supervisor.
- Support aquatic programs, classes, and community wellness initiatives as directed.
- Current Lifeguard Certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (required).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (required).
- Experience working in inclusive, recreational, or therapeutic environments preferred.
- Ability to remain alert, focused, and proactive in a fast-paced aquatic environment.
- Comfort working with individuals with physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities.
