Position Summary

The Director of Meaningful Day is a visionary, strategic, and hands-on leader responsible for overseeing Meaningful Day programming across all service areas—including Day Habilitation, Community Development Services (CDS), 1:1 Supports, Therapeutic Integration partnerships, and skill-building initiatives. This role ensures high-quality, person-centered services that align with DDA regulations, agency mission, and best practices in disability support. The Director leads teams, drives innovation, strengthens community connections, and ensures participants have fulfilling, purposeful, and individualized daily experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide direction, oversight, and long-term strategic vision for Meaningful Day programs.

  • Develop, refine, and implement program models that promote independence, community inclusion, and meaningful engagement.

  • Ensure all programs exceed DDA, COMAR, CARF, and internal compliance standards.

  • Monitor program performance using data, outcomes, and participant feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Team Management & Development

  • Directly supervise program managers, coordinators, and key Meaningful Day leadership staff.

  • Recruit, train, coach, and engage high-performing teams that embody The League’s values.

  • Foster a culture of communication, collaboration, professional growth, and accountability.

  • Oversee staff scheduling, coverage plans, supervisory structures, and performance evaluations.

Participant Experience & Person-Centered Supports

  • Ensure all participants receive high-quality, individualized services aligned with their Person-Centered Plans (PCPs).

  • Champion participant choice, autonomy, advocacy, and skill development across all programs.

  • Support complex case planning, behavioral strategies, and cross-department collaboration to meet participant needs.

  • Maintain strong communication with families, caregivers, support brokers, CCS staff, and external partners.

Compliance, Documentation & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain rigorous program compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation requirements.

  • Oversee effective documentation processes, incident reporting, and regulatory audits.

  • Implement quality assurance systems to monitor safety, outcomes, service delivery, and participant satisfaction.

Budget & Operational Oversight

  • Develop and manage program budgets, staffing allocations, and resource planning.

  • Identify opportunities to expand programming, funding sources, community partnerships, and business development.

  • Oversee transportation needs, facilities coordination, and operational logistics.

Community & Organizational Engagement

  • Represent Meaningful Day programs at internal and external meetings, DDA workgroups, and community forums.

  • Build partnerships with community organizations, employers, therapeutic providers, and educational institutions.

  • Collaborate closely with agency leadership to align services with organizational goals and mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Human Services, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience in disability services, human services management, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of DDA regulations, person-centered practices, and Meaningful Day service models.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, implement change, and manage complex programs.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to think strategically while executing operationally.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving requirements.
