Position Overview
The LDM Group LLC is a federal contractor providing Human Resources services to U.S. Government customers. We are seeking a Human Resources Retirement Specialist to provide expert retirement counseling, analysis, and processing support to a federal HR organization. The HR Retirement Specialist supports federal employees, HR offices, and payroll providers throughout the retirement lifecycle, ensuring accurate counseling, calculations, and timely submission of retirement packages to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Counsel federal employees on retirement eligibility under CSRS, CSRS Offset, FERS, and FERS-RAE/FRAE. Advise employees on voluntary, early, disability, deferred, postponed, and discontinued service retirements. Explain retirement annuity computations, survivor benefit elections, and post-retirement implications. Conduct one-on-one retirement counseling sessions and group retirement briefings. Respond to complex retirement inquiries from employees, HR staff, and management officials.
Calculate Service Computation Dates (SCDs) for retirement, leave accrual, and Reduction in Force (RIF). Compute creditable service, including civilian service and military service. Calculate military deposits and redeposits, refunded service redeposits, and FICA service, including CSRS Offset impacts. Prepare retirement estimates using automated retirement systems such as FedHR, ORA, GRB, or agency-specific tools.
Prepare complete retirement application packages including SF-2801 (CSRS), SF-3107 (FERS), and all required supporting schedules and election forms. Review retirement packages for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Submit finalized retirement packages to OPM within required timeframes and resolve deficiencies, corrections, and follow-up inquiries.
Review and validate Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) and payroll records. Request missing service documentation from DFAS, prior federal agencies, and payroll providers. Reconstruct employment and service histories when records are incomplete or fragmented. Maintain complete, auditable retirement case files in accordance with records retention requirements.
Coordinate with payroll offices to ensure accurate final pay, lump-sum annual leave calculations, and proper posting of military deposits and redeposits. Verify FEHB and FEGLI eligibility for continuation into retirement and ensure correct retirement codes are entered into personnel and payroll systems such as FPPS.
Enter and update retirement actions in federal HR systems including FPPS, GRB, ORA, and eOPF. Ensure compliance with OPM retirement regulations, federal statutes, agency policies, and records retention requirements. Maintain strict confidentiality and safeguarding of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Support retirement surge activities related to Reductions in Force (RIFs), Voluntary Separation Incentive Payments (VSIP), and Voluntary Early Retirement Authority (VERA). Provide technical retirement guidance to HR staff, supervisors, and managers. Track retirement cases, processing timelines, and workload metrics.
Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. U.S. Citizenship required. Minimum five (5) years of specialized experience providing federal retirement counseling and processing support. Minimum five (5) years of experience calculating Service Computation Dates (SCDs) for retirement, leave, and RIF. Minimum five (5) years of experience preparing retirement estimates using automated retirement systems. Minimum five (5) years of experience preparing and submitting retirement packages to OPM. Minimum five (5) years of experience working with federal HR and payroll systems such as FPPS and eOPF.
Highly Desired: Experience with OPM’s Online Retirement Application (ORA).
Place of Performance
All work shall be performed on-site at the Government customer’s Headquarters facility in Washington, DC.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
