The Lawton Standard Co. in Novi, MI is seeking a Melt Deck Operator to join our foundry team.
In this role, you’ll work hands-on in the melt department, focusing on safely pouring iron castings and supporting the production process on the south end of the foundry. This is a critical role in our operation, contributing directly to the quality and efficiency of our castings. Prior foundry experience is preferred, but we’re willing to train dependable candidates who are ready to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- $21.00 to $25.00 per hour (based on experience)
- 1st Shift: 4:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Monday–Thursday)
- Overtime on Fridays and Saturdays as needed
- Safely pour iron castings as part of the melt deck process
- Support production operations on the south end of the foundry
- Operate melt and pouring equipment and related tools
- Follow all safety procedures and standard operating guidelines
- Maintain quality and productivity standards
- Work closely with team members to meet production goals
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Strong commitment to safety in a high-heat, industrial environment
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and attendance
- Team player with good communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role (standing, walking, bending, lifting)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–5 years of manufacturing experience (foundry experience preferred)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work in conditions that include extreme heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment
