Description of the role:
The Lantern Columbia is seeking a dynamic and experienced Restaurant Manager to lead the Ladder 13 team in Columbia, SC. As the Ladder 13 Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day, front-of-house service operations of the hotel's upscale, indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar. The menu has been created by James Beard nominee Chef Kevin Johnson and will be served in the beautiful lobby of The Lantern Columbia. Ladder 13 will offer fast casual breakfast, upscale afternoon / evening lobby f&b service, dinner, and what is expected to be the best cocktail bar in Columbia. The Restaurant Manager will lead the team with inspiration, continuing education, driving creativity, a relentless adherence to standards, and a focus on delivering desired financial results.
Responsibilities:
- Inspirationally lead the front of house team to deliver an extraordinary guest and team member experience.
- Work with the Executive Chef and Bar Supervisor on educating the team on menu items to enhance the restaurant and bar experience.
- Work with the Executive Chef on ensuring all food sanitation, staff certification requirements are met.
- Ensure the front of house team have all working materials (china, glass, silverware, paper goods, to go boxes, etc.).
- Oversee and ensure the Steps of Service are executed to standards at all meal periods and bar service.
- Encourage creativity with the bar staff in cocktail creations.
- Schedule all front of house positions to forecast.
- Balance oversight and leadership duties of a 7 day a week f&b operation by working with Supervisory team.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in restaurant and bar management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of a profit and loss statement.
- Know how in constructing a schedule that balances forecasted business levels and payroll requirements.
- A passion for food and beverage and a real understanding of the responsibility we have when guests and patrons gather around a dining table or in a bar.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Patience. Love. Compassion. Tolerance. Important when working with the special team at The Lantern Columbia and Ladder 13.
