Job Purpose:
The Asbestos Legal Assistant will provide vital support to attorneys in the asbestos department by assisting with the investigation, initiation, management, and trial of product liability lawsuits in various jurisdictions. Responsibilities include drafting, filing, and serving pleadings, discovery demands/responses, motions, and other documents, as well as calendaring and maintaining client contact. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage a docket of asbestos cases from start to completion
· Conduct investigative research to locate individuals and gather case-related information using online search engines and public databases
· Obtain, review, and summarize medical, legal, and other relevant records
· Draft legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests/demands, motions, etc.
· Maintain organized and up-to-date physical and electronic case files
· Enter and manage large volumes of data with precision and accuracy
· Communicate with clients, family members, attorneys, coworkers, and outside parties to gather and verify information
· Coordinate shipping and tracking of case materials
· Process vendor invoices
· Prioritize assignments and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
· Collaborate with attorneys and other legal staff to resolve case or claim issues
· Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in asbestos litigation, personal injury law, or medical malpractice
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
· Dependable, self-motivated, and well-organized

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask across multiple projects and deadlines
· Ability to apply creative problem-solving skills and work independently in high-pressure situations
