Position Summary
The Fitness Center Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all fitness center users. This position monitors activity on the fitness floor, assists patrons with proper equipment use, enforces facility policies, and supports daily operations to ensure a positive member experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet all members and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Monitor fitness areas to ensure safe and appropriate use of equipment.
- Provide basic instruction on the use of cardio and strength equipment.
- Enforce facility rules, policies, and safety standards.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, mirrors, and fitness areas regularly.
- Re-rack weights and maintain organized workout spaces.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns to the Fitness Center Manager.
- Assist with equipment orientations, member check-ins, and program registrations.
- Support front desk operations when needed, including answering phones and questions.
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and cleaning logs.
- Work is performed in an indoor fitness facility environment with frequent public interaction.
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a fitness, recreation, or customer service setting preferred.
- Basic understanding of exercise equipment and fitness etiquette.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to enforce rules with diplomacy and professionalism.
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-minded.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and move equipment as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service skills; ability to adhere to Company's Service Standards
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
