CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Exempt Lay Position
PURPOSE:
The Youth Ministry Director shall provide leadership in the development, implementation, management and administration of Youth Ministries, grades 6-12. The Youth Ministry Director shall strive to fulfill Knowing Christ and Making Christ Known and the mission statement of the Youth Ministry:
“To reach non-believing youth, through love and example, bring them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to connect them with other Christian youth, to help them grow as His disciples, to challenge them to honor God with their lives, and to bring them into a shared relationship with Christ’s body, the Church.”
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Live as a committed disciple of Jesus Christ.
● Exhibit characteristics of leadership, spiritual maturity, wisdom, holiness of the Holy Spirit as expressed in I Timothy 3:-7, Titus 1:5-9, I Peter 5:1-4.
● Prior experience leading youth ministry and training.
● Demonstrated ability in:
o Preaching and teaching the Bible and its life applications to promote spiritual growth
o Inspiring, leading, motivating, and bonding with youth and volunteers.
o Providing leadership in assigned areas of church ministry.
o Recruiting of adult volunteers and teambuilding.
o Equipping the youth to effectively serve Christ’s church and all mankind.
o Administering programs designed to nurture Christian faith and discipleship for youth in the church.
● Background check clearance required.
PROGRAM DUTIES:
● With the policy and financial guidance and support of the Elder for Youth and the mission and administrative direction of the Senior Associate Pastor, the incumbent will develop, plan, and implement the youth ministry program.
● Direct the Youth Ministries through paid staff, the ministry stewards, the youth, and adult youth leaders and parents to provide a wide variety of ministries for youth including:
Outreach-oriented ministries
o Discipleship-oriented ministries
o Service and missions ministries
o Family friendly and recreational events
● Existing youth ministries include, but are not limited to, the following:
o Youth Sunday Worship
o Mid-week programs for senior and junior high
o Youth missions
o Confirmation Classes
o Summer Camps
o Adult Prayer Support Team (Partners in Prayer Program)
o Youth events such as concerts, retreats, lock-ins, etc.
o Youth Praise Band
o Scouts
● Coordinate with Elder for Communications to produce timely communications to students and parents through website updates, social media, and emails.
● Ensure programs are provided for youth who are in various stages of their walk with Christ which could range from being non-believers to mature Christians.
● Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteer adult leadership for activities and programs.
● Oversee the use of fundraisers to assist youth involved in these various ministries.
● Evangelize, teach, and disciple students in their spiritual walk as Christians.
● Spiritually guide youth and their parents when in need and refer to appropriate professionals as required.
● Maintain contact with youth, parents, church, and community to include visitations of new families and youth.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
● Collaborate and consult with the appropriate ministry stewards and ministry directors, including the Children’s Ministry Director and Youth and Children’s Ministry Assistant regarding programs and policy matters, carrying out all approved policies and programs.
● Attend Youth Ministry staff meetings as scheduled.
● Provide regular reports on the status and progress of the Youth Ministry as required by the Senior Associate Pastor
SUPERVISION: Position is supervised by the Senior Associate Pastor.
