Hospitality Management Internship
Location: The Lake House on Canandaigua
Reports to: Hotel Manager & Department Leaders
Program Overview:
The Lake House on Canandaigua is seeking motivated and passionate students interested in gaining hands-on experience in luxury hospitality operations. Our Hospitality Management Internship provides a unique opportunity to learn how a full-service resort operates while working alongside experienced hospitality professionals.
This paid summer internship offers a customizable experience, allowing interns to select 1–3 departments to rotate through based on their interests and career goals. Interns will gain meaningful exposure to daily operations, leadership, and guest experience at our 124-room luxury resort in the Finger Lakes region.
The program requires a minimum 12-week commitment during the summer, with scheduling flexibility depending on academic needs. Students are welcome to receive college credit if their program allows. Please inform us of any academic requirements associated with your internship.
Customized Internship Experience:
We recognize that every intern has different career interests. To provide a meaningful and personalized learning experience, interns may select up to three departments to rotate through during their internship.
Each intern will work directly with department leaders to gain hands-on experience, observe operations, and contribute to projects within their selected areas.
Department Rotation Options:
Human Resources: Work directly with the HR team to support seasonal hiring efforts, onboarding initiatives, and employee engagement programs that support a dynamic hospitality workforce.
Front of House Food & Beverage: Gain experience in both of our dining outlets, including our fine dining restaurant, The Rose Tavern, and our casual lakeside eatery, The Sand Bar. Interns will learn service standards, guest interaction, and restaurant operations.
Events – Execution (Banquets): Work alongside the Banquet Services team to support the day-of execution of weddings, social events, and corporate functions while learning the logistics that bring events to life.
Events – Sales: Work with the Events & Sales team to learn the behind-the-scenes process of event planning, including contracts, client communication, event timelines, and preparation leading up to event execution.
Rooms Division: Partner with the Rooms Division Manager and Housekeeping leadership to understand the operational functions of a 124-room resort, including housekeeping operations, quality standards, and guest room readiness.
Front Office Operations: Work with our Front Office, Reservations, Bell, and Concierge teams to gain experience in guest arrival, reservations management, and delivering personalized guest service.
Key Learning Opportunities:
Throughout the internship, students will:

Schedule Requirements:
Due to the nature of hospitality operations, this internship requires open availability and flexible scheduling, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support resort operations and events.
