About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will assist individuals with special needs, helping them develop essential skills while living in a supportive, family-like environment. Your role will be vital in promoting independence, ensuring their well-being, and maintaining a safe and nurturing atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support by following individualized support plans (ISPs).
- Assist individuals in managing personal challenges and interpersonal relationships.
- Support daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Administer and document medications as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, medication records, medical/dental appointments, behavior data, and financial transactions (petty cash).
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and relevant stakeholders, including state and county officials.
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive living environment.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
- Experience: Prior experience in a residential setting preferred; willing to train the right candidate.
- Flexibility: Must be available to work weekends and accommodate a flexible schedule.
- Medical Clearance: Must have a current physical exam and tuberculosis (PPD) test.
- Transportation: Ability to travel within Montgomery County and Delaware County as needed.
