Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature with precision and care
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort
- Support physicians during procedures including medication administration, X-ray imaging, and basic life support (BLS) procedures
- Manage clinical documentation with accuracy, including ICD coding for diagnoses and recording treatment details
- Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to support diagnosis and treatment plans
- Perform clerical tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and supporting medical administrative functions in outpatient clinics or hospital settings
- Assist with specimen collection, medication administration, and other clinical duties in diverse environments like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and patient care best practices across various specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, ICU (PICU), Geriatrics, and surgical units
- Experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care centers, outpatient clinics or hospital environments including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers
- Proficiency with EHR systems for documentation and data entry; familiarity with ICD coding is highly desirable
- Ability to perform intake procedures accurately while demonstrating excellent patient service skills
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and basic emergency response techniques including Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with X-ray procedures or OR (Operating Room) support is a plus but not mandatory
- Effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with healthcare teams in fast-paced settings such as emergency medicine or hospital inpatient units
