What are the responsibilities and job description for the Creative Wellness & Recipe Writer (Freelance) position at The Kitchen Conversation?
Hey there!
We're The Kitchen Conversation: a digital media publication startup! What originally started & ran as a food blog (for 3 years), is shifting to an online publication focused on entertaining short-form content.
If you have strong opinions, crave tasty treats, and a love for storytelling, we’d love to hear from you!
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and talented Wellness/Recipe Developer to join as a freelance contributor to our website. You’ll be responsible for creating tasty recipes (preferably snacks/desserts/treats) that focus on health and wellness. This is a long-term freelance opportunity with monthly assignments and the chance to grow with our brand. As a Contributor, you'll be expected to produce high-quality content that engages our audience while adhering to our editorial standards. This role requires creativity, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively!
What You'll Do:
- Write 1–2 original plant-based/seasonal dessert or beverage recipe pieces per month (or more, depending on fit)
- Research, pitch, & write compelling short-form articles alongside the recipe.
- Bring a strong personal voice and a well-researched perspective to every piece.
- Collaborate with our editorial team on feedback for edits, clarity, grammar, and style.
- Conduct thorough fact-checking to ensure accuracy in all published materials.
- Utilize strong copywriting skills to create persuasive content that drives engagement.
- Occasionally help promote your work on social media or brainstorm ways to extend its reach.
- Adapt your writing style to meet the needs of various platforms and audiences.
You Might Be a Great Fit If You:
- Are obsessed with healthy eats (salads, smoothies, harvest bowls, wellness treats!).
- Love baking or cooking and have stories, recipes, or cultural insights to share.
- Understand the basics of graphic design (you don’t need to be a designer – Canva works just fine – just have taste and visual awareness).
- Have experience writing for columns, newsletters, or online op-ed sections.
- Produce high-quality photos/videos on your own (we'd love to see your portfolio!)
- Know your way around social media, especially Instagram and TikTok.
- Can work independently, meet deadlines, and thrive in a start-up environment
- Bonus: You’re not afraid to bring your personality into your writing and challenge conventional perspectives.
Application Process:
We'll need:
- 2–3 recipe samples with photos (links or PDFs)
- Bonus: 2 recipe ideas you’d love to write as an article for us (in 250 words or less)
We welcome any writer from all backgrounds and experiences! If you have an idea, we truly want to hear it. We hope to bring a uniqueness to our brand with your voice! :)
Salary : $20 - $25
