SUMMARY:

The Bookstore and Resource Center (BRC) Manager works in collaboration with the BRC Director to ensure optimum overall operations of the King Center’s bookstore, e-commerce website and resources. Responsibilities include managing store operations, leading and guiding team members and ensuring quality customer service that reflects the King Center’s core values. Carries out all duties and responsibilities assigned by Directors for maintaining Guest Services as per company standard, generating sales, merchandising, signing, pricing, cash register (POS System) operations and loss prevention in adherence to all Company Policy/Store standards. The BRC Manager is required to maintain an awareness of all products, merchandise promotions, test merchandise and advertisements and King Center programs.


Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide floor supervision ensuring customers are well attended to and satisfied.
  • Coordinate operational aspects which include team members scheduling, daily reconciling of cash on hand, adjusting the store's physical layout and equipment, and ensuring that books and merchandise are appropriately available and displayed
  • Hire and train employees as needed in all phases of operation of the Bookstore.
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Manage Bookstore members in the performance of all day-to-day operations.
  • Supervise team members and cashiering functions and provide customer service.
  • Complete or supervise all store opening and closing procedures on a daily basis; effect the daily closeout process of cash registers and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Implement policies and procedures as directed by the Bookstore Director and assist in developing new policies and procedures
  • As directed by the Bookstore Director responsible for all activities related to the merchandising of books and products including e-commerce website. This includes meeting with vendors, establishing quantities to be ordered, generating purchase orders.
  • Provide coaching to store team members to ensure optimum guest experience
  • Analyze results, incoming data, identify opportunities and makes decisions in collaboration with the leadership team to drive key performance indicators
  • Drive profitable sales through forecasting and scheduling
  • Manages store budget for daily operations in support of the P&L
  • Builds highly productive teams through sourcing, selecting and developing people
  • In collaboration with the Director, develops, leads and execute BRC goals and SOPs
  • Ensures all compliance standards are met per accounting standards (submissions to accounting)
  • Stock/re-stock merchandise, clean and straighten displays and entire store to layout plan
  • Perform all opening procedures to include making a timely and accurate bank deposit, verify cash on hand, open POS system and sign and file POS reports.
  • Complete all end-of-day reports, run POS reports, count cash at final closing and prepare the deposit.
  • Refer customer service issues that cannot be solved to the next scheduled member of the management team by using the communication log/book
  • Other duties as assigned by management to include cross training in other departments.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 8 years previous retail management experience in a store of $1 million plus (bookstore preferred)
  • Experience with multiple POS systems and how they work.
  • Previous retail or customer service-oriented experience preferred with strength in sales and marketing
  • Ability to listen carefully and actively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • General physical abilities to perform the clerical, cashier, merchandising and supervisory functions of the job
  • Availability for flexible scheduling including weekend and holidays as business dictates
  • Experience with products involving Intellectual Property is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects and merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-50 pounds or to assist in this process
  • Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
