Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, encouraging socialization and engagement in community activities.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences.
- Monitor client behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Facilitate transportation for clients to appointments, social events, or recreational activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and social workers to coordinate care and support services.
Skills
- Experience in hospice care, assisted living, group home settings, or home health environments is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Knowledge of patient care practices and familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting client progress and care activities.
