Position Summary
This position is responsible for administering training programs targeted at driver and mechanic safety procedures and accident/incident protection and prevention.
Essential Functions
- Monitor and train driver trainers who conduct training of new drivers
- Travel to terminals to conduct safety training meetings
- Travel to site of vehicular, passenger and employee accidents/incidents to assist with investigation and determination of cause and preventability
- Represent Company regarding safety, security and insurance legal matters
- Observe employees engaged in their daily work activities, identify areas of concern and determine appropriate action to correct behavior
- Conduct random safety and security audits of assigned facilities
- Ensure compliance and provide guidance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) requirements and regulations
- Serve as local company contact for the DOT and OSHA
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or some post-secondary education preferred
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel
- 2 years transportation industry experience
- 50-80% travel
