The Keller Group is supporting our Phoenix-area based client with their search for a Controller to join their team. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations for a growing construction organization, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls and effective project cost management. Working closely with senior leadership, the Controller will support financial planning, cash flow oversight, operational analysis and ongoing process improvements while leading the accounting team.

Responsibilities:
- Lead all core accounting operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations and compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Oversee construction and percentage-of-completion accounting, including WIP reporting, revenue recognition, forecasting, margin analysis and project cost tracking.
- Partner closely with project managers and operations leadership to ensure accurate job costing, financial visibility and forecast accuracy across active projects.
- Manage cash flow activities, including oversight of collections, cash forecasting and monitoring overall liquidity performance.
- Supervise key accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, billing, contracts administration and fixed assets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Payroll, HR, Operations and executive leadership to support financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Lead monthly financial and operational performance reviews, delivering KPI reporting, trend analysis, risk identification and recommendations to leadership.
- Support audits, budgeting, financial planning initiatives and ongoing system/process improvements, including optimization of ERP and reporting tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a public company or the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, including project costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting a plus.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop teams, manage priorities and drive accountability.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent collaboration, communication and relationship-building skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems
Salary : $170,000 - $200,000
