Description
The Dirt Foreman is responsible for managing and coordinating all earthwork activities on construction sites. This includes overseeing excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and in alignment with project plans, quality standards, and timelines. This is a hands-on role, and foremen are expected to assist in operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct dirt crew activities including excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling.
- Interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications to guide work.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other foremen to ensure smooth workflow.
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, scrapers, off-road trucks, loaders and rollers.
- Monitor site safety and enforce compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Track progress and report daily activities, delays, and issues to supervisors.
- Train and mentor crew members to ensure high performance and adherence to standards.
- Inspect work to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Manage materials, equipment, and labor resources efficiently.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork in a timely manner.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime and weekends as needed

Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in construction or heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in earthwork or heavy civil construction, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, and soil compaction techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment and understanding equipment capabilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
License/Certification: Driver's License (Preferred)
