Position Summary: The Billing Specialist will be responsible for preparing and submitting insurance claims, tracking and following up on unpaid claims, posting payments, and assisting with special projects as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong QuickBooks skills, experience in healthcare billing (including Medicaid and managed care organizations), and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and process insurance claims for billing purposes.
- Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies, including Medicaid and managed care payers.
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims; resubmit when necessary.
- Research and resolve claim rejections and denials, including preparing corrected claims or appeals.
- Communicate with insurance companies and providers regarding billing issues.
- Post insurance and patient payments in QuickBooks as needed.
- Maintain client/patient billing records in compliance with regulations.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable to ensure timely collections.
- Maintain compliance with all Medicaid and payer billing guidelines, including timely filing requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Complete special billing-related projects as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of healthcare or behavioral health billing and collections experience, including Medicaid billing.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and experience with billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of medical collections, reimbursement processes, and payer requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly developed computer skills, strong time management, and initiative to develop and improve billing procedures.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills and outstanding professional references.
- Demonstrated ability to work systematically and meet deadlines.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am- 5 pm
