This Job Will Have The Following Responsibilities
- Manage Inventory: Maintain accurate stock levels for steel and commodities, ensuring timely replenishment and minimal disruptions.
- Optimize Supply Chain: Develop and manage supplier agreements, consignment programs, and sourcing strategies aligned with quality, cost, and delivery goals.
- Support Sales & Production: Provide accurate pricing, lead times, and material availability for quotations and customer inquiries.
- Drive Cost Savings: Lead purchasing cost reduction efforts and negotiate competitive contracts.
- Ensure Compliance: Maintain purchasing procedures, supplier performance records, and ERP data accuracy.
- Problem-Solve: Source alternate materials when needed and coordinate logistics for inbound/outbound shipments.
- Lead Team: Supervise purchasing staff and foster a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
- Experience: 3 years in materials planning or purchasing within a manufacturing environment; strong knowledge of steel grades required.
- Skills:
- Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency
- Understanding of EDI and supply chain reporting
- Strong negotiation and analytical abilities
- Mindset: Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to optimizing cost and performance.
