Overview

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist for an onsite federal contract providing comprehensive psychiatric services to Veterans at a major VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN. This is a full-scope psychiatry role with inpatient, outpatient, and specialty clinic responsibilities, working alongside VA-employed mental health staff.

This position is best suited for psychiatrists comfortable with inpatient work and participating in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Clinical Care (Approx. 95%)

• Inpatient psychiatry coverage (admissions, treatment planning, discharge)
• Outpatient evaluations and follow-ups
• Management of patients with severe mental illness
• Participation in specialty clinics (e.g., PTSD, residential programs as assigned)
• Average clinic load: 6–6.5 bookable hours/day
• Accurate and timely VA medical record documentation
  
  

Administrative / Professional (Approx. 5%)

• Attendance at required staff meetings
• Participation in peer review activities as requested
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary VA teams
  
  

Schedule & Call

• Clinic Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm (Central)
• Inpatient Day Coverage: Monday–Friday
• On‑Call Requirement:
• Estimated call is 1:6 to 1:8
• Evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Phone response within 15 minutes
• On‑site availability within 60 minutes
• Supports inpatient psychiatry and VA providers
• Call rotation details provided during discussion
  

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN)
• Active, full, unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state)
• BLS and ACLS (or equivalent)
• Ability to work onsite and meet federal credentialing standards
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)
