Position Summary
The Personal Care Assistant supports students with disabilities by providing individualized care that promotes safety, dignity, independence, and full access to the school environment. Working under the direction of certified staff, the PCA assists with personal care, mobility, behavior support, and classroom engagement.
Hours: 9:00 AM–3:25 PM, Monday–Friday

Key Responsibilities
- Assist students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, and transportation to maintain engagement and focus.
- Follow individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans as directed by teachers and specialists.
- Adapt materials and activities to meet student needs and promote participation.
- Track and report student progress, behaviors, and incidents accurately.
- Assist with toileting, feeding, dressing, hygiene, and mobility as needed.
- Model positive behaviors and encourage peer interaction and independence.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and school staff to maintain consistent support strategies; attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
- Follow established protocols during medical or behavioral emergencies.
- High school diploma or GED required; coursework in education, psychology, or related fields preferred.
- Experience working with children, ideally in a school or childcare setting.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships.
- School‑based environment with both indoor and outdoor responsibilities.
- Physical activity may be required, including lifting or assisting students with mobility.
- Schedule follows the school calendar; occasional professional development may be required.
