About the Role:
Join a team of passionate engineers building the future of spaceflight. As a Manufacturing Engineer III, you will play a critical role in enabling safe, repeatable, and cost-effective space access. You’ll work cross-functionally to translate engineering designs into production-ready hardware, optimize manufacturing processes, and support the build and test of flight systems.
This role is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions for fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, and refurbishment.
- Manage build sequence, quality, and schedule for hardware production.
- Review and assess engineering drawings for manufacturing impact.
- Disposition non-conformance and lead repair/rework activities.
- Design material handling and packaging solutions to protect flight hardware.
- Maintain hardware configuration and build/test pedigree documentation.
- Drive operational excellence through process, cost, and quality improvements.
- Provide direct support to the production floor, resolving discrepancies and ensuring compliance.
- Collaborate with design, test, and operations teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Promote Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 7 years of direct experience in manufacturing and manufacturing engineering.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and GD&T.
- Proficiency in CAD, PLM, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with AS9100 or similar quality systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments (lift 40 lbs, climb stairs, work in tight spaces).
- Demonstrated ability to work across diverse teams and locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or launch vehicle manufacturing experience.
- Broad hands-on experience in welding, machining, assembly, integration, instrumentation, and packaging.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- General proficiency in CAD tools.
- Knowledge of configuration management, systems engineering, and test processes.
