We're looking for someone with a roll-up-the-sleeves mentality to get out on the floor and lead toward greater operational efficiency. You'll lead a team of managers across three shifts and up to 100 team members.
Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of goods to customers while optimizing fleet utilization and maintaining high standards of inventory management.

Job Summary
The Distribution Center Manager (Fleet and Warehousing) is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the company's distribution center, including both warehousing activities and fleet management. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of goods to customers while optimizing fleet utilization and maintaining high standards of inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning : Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize distribution center operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Team Leadership : Lead and motivate a team of warehouse staff, supervisors, and other personnel to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback as needed.
- Inventory Management : Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accurate stock levels, minimize shrinkage, and prevent stockouts. Implement best practices for inventory management and conduct regular audits to maintain data integrity.
- Order Fulfillment : Coordinate order fulfillment activities to meet customer demands and ensure timely delivery of products. Monitor order processing, picking, staging, and loading operations to maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
- Fleet Management : Oversee operations of the fleet, including scheduling, dispatching, and routing vehicles efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Safety and Compliance : Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and regulatory requirements. Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety inspections, and promote a culture of safety awareness among warehouse staff.
- Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency gains within the distribution center. Implement continuous improvement initiatives, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive operational excellence across the organization.
- Budget Management : Develop and manage the distribution center budget, including forecasting expenses, monitoring variances, and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in distribution center management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Industrial / building materials distribution experience strongly preferred. Metals distribution a plus.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and fleet management best practices.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and other relevant technology platforms. Oracle NetSuite preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of driving process improvements.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands on, dynamic work environment and adapt to changing priorities.
