About the Role
As a Database Administrator, you will design, build, and maintain database systems that meet reliability, performance, and scalability requirements. You’ll contribute to every stage of the system development lifecycle and ensure that databases and related applications operate efficiently within defined resource limits. You will also support performance tuning, troubleshoot production issues, and help uphold data standards across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems across multiple environments.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including disk utilization and throughput.
- Support database access methods and ensure secure and efficient data retrieval.
- Assist with database analysis, modeling, coding, and production issue resolution.
- Develop and document maintenance, backup, and recovery procedures.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery drills and ensure readiness for failover scenarios.
- Serve as the primary on‑call resource for production database incidents.
- Support and enforce corporate data standards and best practices.
- Recommend improvements to database technologies, tooling, and operational standards.
- Test and evaluate new software releases and database technologies.
- Assist with business studies, proposal development, and feasibility assessments.
- Prepare and maintain system and technical documentation.
- Manage and maintain metadata repositories.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- Proficiency with Linux shell scripting.
- Strong knowledge of DML, DDL, and database utilities for at least two DBMS technologies.
- Proficiency in DBMS access methods and corresponding operating system access paths.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server or DB2 LUW.
- 1 year of experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, or CI/CD—or strong desire to learn.
- 1 year of experience with PostgreSQL—or strong desire to learn.
- Experience with additional databases such as SQL Server is a plus.
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate or IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows.
Salary: $125-$135k bonus
