Description: Our client is currently seeking a Clinical Assistant for their clinic in Plano
Job Responsibilities
- Provide support to physicians and associate practitioners during procedures and treatments.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, conduct interviews, measure vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature), and document findings in patient records.
- Record patients' medical history, health maintenance information, and chief complaints accurately.
- Deliver instructions to patients as directed by physicians or associate practitioners.
- Document all patient-related communications and interventions in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Administer medications using aseptic techniques and observe patient responses; report adverse events promptly.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection adhering to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines, if required.
- Maintain laboratory specimen logs and ensure compliance with testing standards.
- Coordinate outpatient testing, referrals, and hospital pre-admissions when necessary.
- Scan referral letters, x-ray reports, and lab results into patients' EMRs per clinic protocol.
- Conduct routine checks and maintain logs for equipment, refrigeration, emergency medications, sterilization, and other compliance measures.
- Prepare, disinfect, and restock patient care areas such as exam rooms, procedure rooms, and lab spaces regularly and as needed.
- Respond to telephone and email inquiries, including medication refill requests, and provide feedback to patients, physicians, or pharmacies in line with provider protocol.
- Gather and relay data and messages from patients and front office to physicians and associate providers.
- Strictly adhere to infection-control policies, medication storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Represent the clinic professionally and foster a courteous and cooperative environment with patients and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in compliance with HIPAA requirements and clinic policies.
- Attend meetings and engage in team and professional development activities.
- Stay current with Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as required by the state certification board.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the office supervisor, site manager, or practice administrator.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
- Active CPR/BLS certification
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Tuberculosis screening and proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis, either via lab confirmation, documented vaccination, or physician diagnosis.
- Covid-19 vaccination must be current or obtained by the specified deadline.
- Three or more years of clinical experience with licensed physicians or providers.
- A minimum of one year of experience in phlebotomy.
- A minimum of one year of experience administering injections.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records systems (e.g., Nextgen, Allscripts).
