Job Summary
The Applications Engineer will provide advanced design and technical support to customers in specialized markets. This role requires developing expertise in gasket materials and manufacturing processes, with a focus on silicone products and their application capabilities. Acting as the primary technical liaison for customer project engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customer inquiries, offering design assistance and product guidance.
- Interpret customer requirements, lead design discussions, and deliver solutions including samples, estimates, and quotes using CAD models and drawings.
- Manage projects from initial design through prototype and early production phases, following the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
- Create and refine prototypes as needed, leveraging manufacturing and production resources.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, customer service, sales, quality, and manufacturing teams to drive project success.
- Communicate with urgency and integrity—respond promptly, provide clear guidance, and decline non-fit inquiries professionally while adding value.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, applications engineering, or technical support within manufacturing or technology sectors.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and material requirements.
- Skilled in 2D CAD and 3D modeling software; familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience with ERP systems for managing BOMs and workflows.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; project management experience is a plus.
- Practical problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to resolving issues quickly.
