Great opportunity to enhance your research career working in a renowned cancer immunology research environment in the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. Working under the supervision of an outstanding research team in a flow cytometry lab, the position will offer training on the use of state-of-the-art flow cytometry technology and development of research skills in cancer immunology. We are seeking a Research Technologist who will help expand the range of services and interaction offered to researchers, which will include performing flow cytometry acquisition on animal, human fluids and/or tissue or cultured cell lines and evolve into executing and troubleshooting both analytical and sorting experiments.

The Research Technologist performs laboratory tasks and completes routine assays following common or established protocols and procedures.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical and/or research laboratory experiments by following common protocols independently or with instructions.
  • Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab.
  • Gain problem-solving skills through progressive training, understanding of the research, and experience.
  • Run lab tests and complete measurements.
  • Identify and resolve common problems involved in routine assays.
  • Increase skill base and knowledge of lab research and relevant assays.
  • Train users in standard equipment operation and routine lab techniques and procedures.
  • Set-up experiments based on defined standards.
  • Collect project data.
  • Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
  • Perform related laboratory maintenance, monitor inventory of supplies, clean equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above

  • Construct Engineering: Design and assemble DNA vectors for bispecific antibodies using advanced cloning techniques (e.g., Gibson Assembly).
  • Protein Characterization: Utilize FPLC/SEC for antibody purification and mass spectrometry to verify Drug-Antibody Ratios (DAR).
  • In Vitro Validation: Perform flow cytometry (FACS) to assess dual-antigen binding and conduct cytotoxicity assays to measure therapeutic efficacy.
  • Oncology Research: Maintain diverse cancer cell lines and execute internalizations studies to visualize how ADCs enter target cells.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY ($19-20.00 Hour targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
