Trial Attorney / Litigation Team Lead
Compensation: 200k-300k base salary plus bonus.
A highly respected boutique firm is looking for a seasoned trial lawyer with 6 to 15 years of experience to lead and develop our litigation team. This is a senior, managerial role reporting directly to the founder. You will try the firm's major injury cases, set the standard for how we litigate, mentor the attorneys around you, and take our largest injury matters through verdict.
We want someone who stays sharp: current on developments in the law, our field, and our practice, and committed to training and raising the level of everyone on the team. If you are building a book of business, we give you the platform and support to grow it.
What you'll do
- Try the firm's major injury cases from workup through verdict
- File and prosecute lawsuits from complaint through trial
- Take and defend expert depositions, including retained medical, biomechanical, and liability experts
- Take and defend depositions of critical fact witnesses, PMK/PMQ witnesses, and adverse parties
- Draft, argue, and oppose dispositive and pretrial motions in court
- Conduct and respond to written discovery
- Prepare cases for trial: motions in limine, witness prep, exhibits, and trial strategy
- Lead, direct, and develop the litigation team
What we're looking for
- Admitted to practice in California and in good standing
- 6 to 15 years of litigation experience
- A proven trial record: first-chair trial experience and cases tried to verdict
- Demonstrated skill taking expert depositions and depositions of critical witnesses
- Experience arguing motions in court
- Strong command of pleadings, written discovery, and law-and-motion practice
- Excellent legal research and writing, sharp strategic and analytical judgment, and outstanding communication
- Comfortable in high-volume contact with clients and opposing counsel, with the temperament to mediate disputes and earn trust
- Calm and effective under pressure, with strong organizational and time-management skills
- A genuine team player who anticipates the team's needs and gives clear direction to staff
