Communications Manager (Part-Time)

The Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region is seeking a creative and organized Communications Manager to lead our communications, marketing, and digital presence.

This part-time position is responsible for sharing the Federation's story, promoting programs and events, supporting fundraising efforts, and strengthening our connection with the Jewish community and our partner organizations. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, highly organized, comfortable working independently, and experienced in digital communications.

Key Responsibilities

Content & Storytelling

• Produce the Federation's weekly eVoice newsletter.
• Find engaging stories that highlight our programs and community impact.
• Coordinate the annual print magazine, The Voice, and assist with campaign materials.
• Design simple graphics and flyers using Canva or similar tools (Adobe experience is a plus).
• Write and edit newsletters, articles, press releases, blogs, and other communications.

Digital Communications

• Manage the Federation's social media channels.
• Maintain and update the WordPress website.
• Create and send email marketing campaigns.

Planning & Collaboration

• Maintain a community calendar.
• Support fundraising campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives through communications.
• Work closely with staff and volunteers to gather stories and promote programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Proficiency managing WordPress websites.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Familiarity with social media and digital communications.
• Experience with email marketing platforms (Constant Contact or similar).
• Basic graphic design skills (Canva or Adobe preferred).
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Appreciation for the mission and values of the Jewish Federation. Knowledge of the Jewish community, holidays, and culture is preferred.

Position Details

• Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week)
• $25–$27 per hour (approximately $26,000 annually)
• Hybrid work schedule with some in-person meetings
• Flexible hours with occasional evenings or weekends for community events
