The Jefferson Hotel, Richmond’s premier luxury destination, is seeking an energetic and dependable Banquet Bar Back to join our award-winning Banquets team. The Banquet Bar Back plays a vital role in ensuring that all banquet bars are fully stocked, organized, and operating efficiently, supporting the Bartenders and Servers in providing exceptional service during events.
This part-time position is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The role can also be supplemented with Banquet Server shifts for candidates seeking additional hours.
Key Requirements
- Availability: Must be able to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Hours fluctuate based on event schedules and business levels.
- Experience: Prior hospitality, bar, or banquet experience preferred, but not required.
- Skills: Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, professional, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. safely and stand or walk for extended periods.
Basic Functions & Scope
- Support Banquet Bartenders during events by maintaining bar organization and cleanliness.
- Replenish ice, mixers, glassware, garnishes, and beverages as needed.
- Assist with bar setup and breakdown for all banquet functions.
- Ensure bars are fully stocked before, during, and after events.
- Maintain cleanliness of all bar areas, storage rooms, and service stations.
- Communicate effectively with Bartenders, Servers, and Banquet Captains to anticipate needs and ensure seamless service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up banquet bars according to event orders and hotel standards.
- Restock supplies throughout service, maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Collect and wash glassware; keep the bar area clean and organized during events.
- Assist in breakdown and storage of bar equipment and supplies post-event.
- Report low inventory or maintenance issues promptly to the Banquet Captain or Bartender.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Provide support to the Banquet Service team as needed during large or high-volume events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous bar back or banquet experience preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance.
